Hospital Air Dropped from Sky - Project भीष्म

The Indian Air Force (IAF) on 15 May 2024 successfully airdropped portable hospital भीष्म in Agra. 

This is the first of its kind test in which the Air Force has dropped hospital cubes from an aircraft. These portable hospitals can be very useful in emergency situations and can be used anywhere by airdropping them from an aircraft.

Project भीष्म, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense and National Security Council. The भीष्म Project (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita and Maitri) is designed for rapid deployment not only in India but also abroad in the event of natural disasters, humanitarian crises or in times of peace and war. So that during this time भीष्म portable hospitals can be used to provide immediate medical assistance.

According to Air Force sources, this mobile cube hospital can treat 200 people. These modular medical units are designed for rapid deployment in remote or disaster-affected areas, helping to provide medical assistance even in challenging environments. At the same time, by successfully airdropping भीष्म in Agra, the Air Force has proved that it can rapidly deploy medical resources to needy areas during an emergency humanitarian crisis.

Sources said that भीष्म portable hospital cubes have all kinds of medical facilities. They are also designed to be easily transported by air, land and sea. Each cube includes surgical facilities, diagnostic tools and patient care facilities.These portable hospital cubes have been developed and tested by the Indian Air Force, Indian Health Services Institutions and Defense Technology Experts.

At the same time, these cubes are ready in just 12 minutes. It has two sets of master cube cages, each with 36 mini cubes.These cubes are very strong, waterproof and very light. Each mini-cube is carefully packed inside the master cage so that there is no problem in opening it. It can be reused. 

This project was also recently presented to dignitaries from various countries at the G20 Summit and was highly appreciated. 

We beleive that with भीष्म, the Indian Air Force has redefined the possibilities of emergency healthcare, proving that it stands ready to deliver life-saving assistance whenever and wherever it is needed.
