77th Army Day (15 January) के मौके पर Ministry of Defence ने इस initiative की घोषणा की, जिसमें "Borders और Battlefields" को tourist destinations में बदलने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। इस कदम से:

• भारत की military history को सही perspective से पेश किया जाएगा।
• लोगों को देश की रक्षा में लगे soldiers की sacrifice से रूबरू कराया जाएगा।
• सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में tourism से local economy को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।
• इन इलाकों से होने वाले migration को रोका जा सकेगा।

Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi ने बताया कि यह initiative holistic development का हिस्सा है। उन्होंने बताया कि एक dedicated Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan website भी launch की जाएगी, जो इन battlefields की travel information, history, और tourism guidelines को एक one-stop solution के रूप में पेश करेगी।

Four Pillars of Development

General Upendra Dwivedi के अनुसार, इस initiative को चार pillars पर आधारित रखा गया है:
Infrastructure – पर्यटकों के लिए बेहतर सुविधाएँ
Communication – सीमावर्ती इलाकों में connectivity
Tourism – Historical battlegrounds को tourist hotspots बनाना
Education – लोगों को military history से जोड़ना
